Gale Winskill established Winskill Editorial (www.winskilleditorial.co.uk) in 2008, which offers a wide range of freelance editorial services, as well as training courses.
An editor since 1993, Gale is an Advanced Professional Member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP), and was a Director of Publishing Scotland between 2012 and 2014.
Gale has worked both in-house and freelance, in the UK and Hong Kong. She covers a wide range of areas, including general adult fiction, children's fiction and non-fiction, as well as academic texts and work by non-native speakers of English.
Services offered include structural and developmental editing, copy-editing, proofreading, project-managing and critiques, as well as training.
Gale's clients include self-publishers, private individuals, publishing houses, and literary agencies. In addition, Gale recently project-managed and co-authored the SfEP's Introduction to Fiction Editing online training course, and has presented a variety of courses and workshops on different aspects of general publishing matters, as well as on fiction editing.
Some of her edited works have won or been shortlisted for a variety of fiction prizes, including the winner of Best Indie Book Awards 2015 (horror category), and the winner of the First Novel (>80,000 words category), Next Generation Indie Book Awards, 2014.
