Self-employed author, researcher, broadcaster, editor, critic and tutor since 1970. Books to date: Man & the Stars (1974), New Worlds for Old (1979), Man & the Planets (1983), Starfield, science fiction by Scottish writers (edited, 1989), With Time Comes Concord & other stories (2012), Children from the Sky (2012), The Stones and the Stars (2012), Incoming Asteroid! (2013), The Elements of Time (2016, in press). Contributor to 32 other books; published 37 short stories and over 1200 articles.

Designed and built first astronomically aligned stone circle in UK for over 3000 years, Sighthill Park Glasgow, 1979, currently being moved to new site. Curator, Airdrie Public Observatory, at various times from 1980 to 2010.
