Weegie Wednesday Wednesday 19 June 2019 from 7.30pm with British historian Evan Mawdsley
June 19, 2019, 7.30pm
Following the success of our meeting in May, we're very delighted to welcome guests Kim MacLeod and Evan Mawdsley.
Kim will outline details of Calums' Legacy project.
"It is our writing and publishing project for 16 to 25-year olds who may be lacking in opportunity. There are twelve fully funded places available for young people who live in East Dunbartonshire or Greater Glasgow area."
Our main speaker will be the highly respected Evan Mawdsley. Evan Mawdsley is a British historian and former Professor of
International History at the University of Glasgow's School of
Humanities. He specializes in Russian history and the history of World
War II. He is published by Yale University Press, Cambridge University Press, Bloomsbury and other leading publishing houses. His talk is entitled:
Publish or perish: Adventures in non-fiction
It will include advice on your relationship with your publisher, and coming up with new ideas
There will be tea/decaf tea/coffee available but if you prefer you may BYOB or soft drinks. We have a £3 corkage charge for anyone drinking alcohol. Tesco Express on Sauchiehall Street is less than a 5-minute walk away.
To raise much needed funds, we will have our usual raffle, with the main prize being a Waterstones gift voucher. Donations of additional raffle prizes are always much appreciated.
Weegie Wednesday is for everyone with an interest in books, - writers, illustrators, book designers, publishers, agents, TV, film: anyone who enjoys storytelling, be it fact or fiction, and we look forward to meeting you all on the 19th at 19.30.
