ScotsWrite - Everything a writer needs. Website www.societyofauthors.org/scotswrite
The Society of Authors in Scotland has created what is expected to be one of the most exciting events in the 2017 writing calendar. ScotsWrite, a three-day weekend event, will enable delegates to network with and hear from some of the UK’s leading authors and writers to extend your creative, financial and personal horizons.
If you’re thinking of putting pen to paper for the first time or you’re an established writer, ScotsWrite has been designed - by writers - to help you go further along your chosen path.
Whether you’re a published or emerging writer, of fiction or non-fiction, a translator, children’s author, poet or writer for the media, ScotsWrite offers talks and workshops from experts in a variety of areas including marketing, self publishing, changing genre, technology, health and wellbeing, and ergonomics. Plus, there will be a limited number of one-to-one sessions with publishers and agents.
Enjoy a gala dinner, ceilidh and drinks receptions with time to mingle and explore the exhibitor stands and bookshop.
ScotsWrite takes place 22–24 September 2017 at the Westerwood Hotel and Golf Resort, Nr Glasgow.
Join us at the conference to:
· Extend your creative, financial and personal horizons
· Diversify and expand your skills and knowledge of the business of writing
· Network with other literary professionals

· Share ideas and learn from experts

· Succeed in everything that makes you a writer
Our conference theme is the Ikigai, a Japanese concept that means ‘a reason for being’ and is similar to the French phrase ‘raison d'être’. The Ikigai’s four strands of passion, mission, vocation and profession have been woven into the conference to address all the things that make us writers, but also other areas of our lives.

Lucinda Byatt

I’ve been a translator from Italian to English for upwards of twenty years. Many of the books I’ve translated have been related to cultural history. This is the other hat I wear. As a historian, I teach a number of courses at Edinburgh University, mostly relating to Italian social and cultural history between 1400 and 1600, and it is in this field that I do my own writing. I’m a member of the Translators Association, a group within the Society of Authors, and I’ve been secretary to the Society of Authors in Scotland since 2015.

Linda Strachan
Linda Strachan is an award winning children's author and Chair of the Society of Authors in Scotland. Author of over 60 books, Linda writes for all ages from gritty crime novels for young adults to picture books including the bestselling Hamish McHaggis series and a writing handbook, Writing for Children. She has also written for educational publishers and her books are used in schools all over the world. Linda has run creative writing workshops for adults and children in the UK and abroad and is currently Patron of Reading to Liberton High School in Edinburgh.
